We consider marriage to be a sacred rite there. That is why the matter of marriage registration has been included in our law. Marriage registration is a must for any couple. Educated or uneducated they must fulfill this responsibility. This marriage registration proves to be a blessing in some circumstances.
The Constitution of India has two laws for marriage registration. One is the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 and the other is the Special Marriage Act 1954. The Hindu Marriage Act can register couples who are both Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs or couples who have converted. When in the Special Marriage Act 1954, both the bride and groom belong to Hinduism or to the religion mentioned above, they are required to register.
Marriage registration is not limited to this. But for any general documentation such as election card, license, Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc., marriage registration certificate is mandatory.
